PHOENIX — Three people were taken to hospitals after a crash involving two vehicles in West Phoenix early Thursday morning.
The crash occurred at the intersection of 79th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 2:45 a.m.
Preliminary information suggests a truck headed westbound on Van Buren crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a sedan.
Phoenix Fire Department officials say a woman had to be extricated from one of the vehicles, and two other people, both men, were also hurt. All three were rushed to hospitals for treatment. Officials first reported that all three suffered critical injuries, but police say they are expected to survive.
Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
