GLENDALE, AZ — A deadly rollover crash involving two SUVs is under investigation in Glendale early Friday morning.
Police responded to the crash near 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road around 2:30 a.m.
Officers say they began getting multiple calls reporting a serious rollover with several people hurt. When they arrived, the area was shut down as crews worked to help those involved and secure the scene.
Authorities say one SUV slammed into the back of another SUV. The first vehicle rolled onto its side and crashed into the patio of a nearby business.
Five people were inside the SUV that rolled over. All five were taken to the hospital, according to police. The driver and only occupant of the second SUV was not hurt and stayed at the scene.
Police also say another person at the scene was taken to the hospital and later died.
The investigation is ongoing, and police say impairment and speed may have led to the crash.
