Salt River Community Gaming Enterprises, which owns and operates Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort, has hired its first woman and tribal member to be its chief executive officer.
Patricia Tate, who is an enrolled member of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, took over the role as CEO on Aug. 1. She has worked for the Community’s gaming enterprise for more than two decades, serving as chief financial officer since 2006 and as executive vice president and CFO since 2011.
Being an introvert, Tate told the Business Journal she was 100% happy being CFO. But with her taking over the CEO position, she said it shows enrolled community members and all gaming enterprise employees an example of what is possible in the organization.
