PHOENIX — A 53-year-old man is in extremely critical condition after he was hit by a vehicle in north Phoenix late Saturday night.
The crash happened around 11 p.m. near 28th Avenue and Peoria Avenue.
Phoenix police said the man had been arguing with a woman before the crash. Witnesses were chasing him when he ran into the street and was hit by a vehicle.
The driver initially left the scene but returned a few minutes later. Police said they noticed signs of impairment when they spoke with the driver.
The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
