PHOENIX — A woman is dead and a man is hurt after a crash involving a dirt bike Wednesday night.
Phoenix fire crews say it happened on the intersection of 16th Street and Southern Avenue around 10 p.m.
Phoenix police say the crash involved a dirty bike and a truck.
Two people riding on the dirt bike were taken to a hospital in critical condition. One of the two people, 19-year-old Britney Vasquez Gomez, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The other dirt bike rider, only identified as a man, is expected to survive.
Police believe the dirt bike was heading south on 16th Street when it hit the truck that was turning left into a private drive while heading northbound on 16th Street.
The driver of the truck was evaluated for impairment and processed for DUI.
The dirt bike driver did not show any signs of impairment.
The investigation is ongoing. Charging decisions will not be made until the investigation concludes.
