SURPRISE, AZ — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a homicide investigation in Surprise on June 11.
Officers were first called to the scene near Dysart and Bell Roads around 4 a.m., where the man was found dead.
That man has been identified as 53-year-old Sean Hernandez.
At the time of the incident, police took 27-year-old Nathan Sobarzo into custody on unrelated robbery charges. It was later learned that Sobarzo was a cousin of Hernandez and lived at the home with him.
During the murder investigation, detectives received new DNA results from the state crime lab linking Sobarzo to the crime, according to the Surprise Police Department.
On November 13, Sobarzo was taken into custody by the Surprise Police Department, following his release on the unrelated charges, and booked into the Maricopa County Jail to face charges of second-degree murder.
Details of what led to the homicide haven't been provided.
