A wrong-way driver responsible for a crash in February surrendered to Arizona Department of Public Safety officials on Tuesday.

According to DPS, 26-year-old Shane Hidalgo of Scottsdale, was driving in the wrong direction of traffic along the Loop 101 near Guadalupe Road when he caused two separate crashes involving a total of five vehicles and injuring four people, including himself.

He was hospitalized with serious injuries and laboratory results later concluded that his blood-alcohol content was a .238, almost three times Arizona’s presumptive limit, at the time of the crash.

Hidalgo turned himself into DPS headquarters and was arrested. He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, four counts of criminal damage, three counts of endangerment, super-extreme DUI, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
