PHOENIX — A man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot by police late Saturday night near Interstate 17 and Cactus Road in north Phoenix.
Phoenix police say officers were in the area around 11:30 p.m. for an unrelated call when a man began yelling at them. As officers were returning to their vehicles, police say the man confronted them while armed with a gun, prompting the shooting.
According to police, after being shot, the man collapsed, and officers took him into custody and immediately began providing lifesaving aid.
Police say no officers were injured in the shooting.
The person involved was taken to the hospital. He was later released into police custody and booked into jail.
He is identified as Arieus Amaree Potts.
