PHOENIX — Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed while forcing entry into a home early Saturday morning in west Phoenix.
Around 3:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of 75th Avenue and Pueblo Avenue, near Broadway Road, after reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot at least once.
Phoenix Fire personnel responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. He has since been identified as 25-year-old Isaac Nathaniel Cordova-Fregoso.
"The preliminary investigation indicates that Cordova‑Fregoso forced entry into the home and was confronted by the occupants, at which point the shooting occurred," police said in an update on Sunday.
The shooter was identified, interviewed, and has been released pending further investigation.
