PHX foreclosure turnaround among best in nation

The greater Phoenix area has made great strides in its foreclosure rate since the quarterly peak of foreclosure filings in the second quarter of 2009.

In fact, the Valley is doing better than most of the nation according to RealtyTrac, a real estate foreclosure research company. In the first quarter of 2016, foreclosure filings were 93 percent below the peak. The national average is 69 percent below. The only metro area in the nation faring better is Merced, California, which is 95 percent below the quarterly peak.

85326 - Buckeye,172 filings
85364 - Yuma, 78 filings
85041 - Phoenix (just north of South Mountain), 64 filings
85635 - Sierra Vista, 61 filings
85033  - Phoenix (just south of Glendale), 53 filings

According to RealtyTrac, Arizona has an average foreclosure rate of .06 percent -- lower than the national average of .08 percent.
