AZ foreclosures down: how did your area fare?

The total number of foreclosure filings in Arizona is down once again from previous years, but still above the national rate.  

Realtytrac released its annual Year-End Foreclosure Market Report this week. It incorporates documents filed in all three phases of foreclosure: default, auction and Real Estate Owned (REO).

Nationwide, foreclosures are at a 9-year low.  The nearly 1.1 million properties with filings in 2015 was the lowest since 2006. 

?The interactive chart below shows the trend of foreclosure filings in the state since 2011.

Arizona ranks 26th in the nation for foreclosure rates in 2015.  New Jersey had the worst rating, North Dakota the best. 

In Arizona:

  • 17,678 properties had foreclosure filings in 2015
  • Buckeye zip code 85326 had the most, 270 properties
  • Foreclosures were down 8 percent from 2014
