A Peoria neighborhood has severe damage after rain and wind hit the area of Union Hills Drive and Westbrook Parkway Saturday evening.

Drivers traveling along Union Hills, west of 91st Avenue, came across some road blocks with about a dozen large trees down on the road.

“Just seeing all the destruction off of Union Hills, all through here roads closed...it’s unreal,” said Bridget Brooks, who came to the neighborhood to check on her grandmother's home.

Several people came home to a big mess.

“This is totally crazy. I mean, when it rains, it really pours, and not only that, it knocks down trees," nearby resident Rachel Acuna said.

Heavy winds and rain were powerful enough to completely uproot a large tree along with some pipes underneath, exposing a big hole in the ground.

“It’s frightening. It’s scary," Brooks said.

Down the street, another large downed tree blocked the road.

Downed trees and debris were scattered throughout the neighborhood.

“There was a guy in his golf cart. He didn't see it. When I was walking down there, I was just yelling at him, 'Stop, stop, stop,'" said Bob Stickle, who lives in the neighborhood.
