MESA, AZ — Mesa residents can once again begin applying for emergency rental and utility assistance if affected by COVID-19, according to a press release from the City of Mesa on Thursday.

It is one of the first municipalities in Maricopa County to get its program in place after receiving $15.7 million in federal COVID relief funds from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021.

The program has different eligibility requirements than the CARES Act rental assistance funds that were dispersed in 2020.

It is open to residents with gross monthly incomes of less than 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) will be given to households with monthly gross incomes. However, priority will be given to those who are 50% or below AMI or have been unemployed for 90 days or more.

Additional information about qualifications and documentation can be found on the City's website, which was temporarily down on Thursday afternoon.
