CHANDLER, AZ — Mesa Police Department officers were involved in a shooting near South McQueen Road and East Frye Road in Chandler on Tuesday night.
According to police, officers were at the scene to make an arrest in connection with a domestic violence incident that occurred in the city of Mesa earlier in the week.
Several attempts were made to get the person, only identified as a man, to comply with officers commands to exit the home. At one point, the man was seen with a rifle, police say.
At that point, a shooting involving officers occurred and the man reportedly barricaded himself in the home.
Less-lethal tools were used to get the man to exit the home, and officials took him to a hospital for treatment.
His current condition is not known, according to the latest update overnight from police.
The investigation is ongoing. No additional details were immediately available.
