CHANDLER, AZ — Ninth grader Karthik Srinivas realized some families might not have access to school or craft supplies during these uncertain times.

So, Karthik coordinated with fellow students and friends to organize "The Gift of Giving Back," school supply drive.

"I realized it would help me. It’s a better use of time and better for my mental health," Karthik says.

Fellow organizer ninth grader Anushka Agrawal says, "People have these kinds of supplies just lying around."

"So everyone can make an impact," Sripriya Srinivas added. "I had some books and other art supplies I wanted to donate and thought it was a really cool idea."

The teens will accept gently used books or new packaged school supplies like paper and pencils. They plan to distribute the supplies to families who message them over social media.

Ultimately, they hope to inspire others to give back in their own communities. "Doing this in various other places can actually make an impact bigger than just what were doing here," says Agrawal.
