PHOENIX — A 3-year-old girl has died from her injuries following a crash Sunday night in Phoenix that also left her mother dead.

Phoenix police said that Litzi Robledo passed away Monday at the hospital after she was critically injured in a crash at 51st Avenue and Van Buren Street around 9 p.m. Sunday. Her mother, 27-year-old Tania Robledo-Muniz, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the collision.

According to police, the driver of a pickup truck is believed to have lost control while traveling on Van Buren Street, causing his vehicle to roll over into oncoming traffic, hitting Robledo-Muniz's sedan.

Firefighters said Robledo-Muniz had to be cut out of the vehicle, and did not appear to have been wearing a seat belt. Her daughter was reportedly in a car seat that did not appear to be properly installed.

Crews also had to extricate the driver of the pickup, and officials say he was also not wearing a seat belt.

Police on Monday said speed and impairment are suspected as factors in the collision.

The pickup driver remains hospitalized recovering from serious injuries sustained in the crash. Police have not yet identified the man and say charges are still under review as the investigation continues.
