The Maricopa County Recorder took to Facebook on Wednesday afternoon to apologize for his comments to a candidate for Arizona State legislator.

Adrian Fontes told the candidate to “Go F-yourself” on Facebook. The voter was complaining about a ballot issue when Fontes made the remark.

On Wednesday, Fontes apologized to the candidate and to all of Maricopa County for his remark. He said he took matters too far.

Fontes ended the apology by saying he will try to do better.

The Maricopa County GOP said they are very concerned about this issue. "This is not a new thing," said Maricopa County GOP Chairman Chris Herring. "We have been inundated with feedback from voters who have felt the new Recorder was dismissive of their concerns."
