PHOENIX — Thanking our hardworking frontline healthcare workers was the goal of Valley company NewACUnit.com.

The business partnered with Valleywise Health formerly Maricopa Medical Center to gift a deserving healthcare worker a new air conditioning unit.

Recipient Ashley Burke says the gift is a huge relief. She's a patient care technician at Valleywise and cares directly for COVID-19 patients. Balancing 12-hour overnight shifts with raising a 6-year-old has been a challenge.

Now, with temperatures rising, the faulty A/C unit at her home posed a another challenge. "Each summer I've been here it's broken down and I've gone days without cooling in my house," says Burke.

Now, thanks to NewACUnit.com, she'll come home to a new efficient unit.

"We're super grateful to all the healthcare workers putting their lives on the line to help fight this COVID-19 pandemic. So, it was the perfect way for us to say thank you," says CEO Bodie Bryan.

NewACUnit.com says they hope to help more frontline workers in the future. For now, one is very relieved.

Burke says, "To know that this is not going to be an issue and I'm not going to have to replace the entire unit in a year or two from now. I'm very grateful."
