PHOENIX — Phoenix Fire crews were called to battle a large business fire near 35th Avenue and Indian School Road.
At around noon on Tuesday, firefighters were alerted to a structure fire. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from a scrapyard next to a commercial building.
Crews deployed hand-lines to both structures to prevent the fire from spreading.
At one point, the fire went to a second alarm. Crews were eventually able to stop the wind-driven fire from extending to other areas.
A plume of smoke can be seen from across the Valley.
There are no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation; however, a worker tells ABC15 it may have started from a piece of heavy machinery.
