GLENDALE, AZ — Fans of Louisiana State University and the University of Central Florida bundled up for their tailgates ahead of the Playstation Fiesta Bowl. The chilly temperatures were not going to stop any of them from supporting their squad as they took the field at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.

"We had to get up in the attic and get our warm clothes out...long johns," UCF fan Marcus Ryan joked. "But, it's nice to be cold every once in a while because we don't get it very much."

Ryan came with a crowd of die-hard UCF fans. While they were prepared, others were very confused.

"We left Louisiana and we came to Louisiana," laughed LSU fan Ryan Matherne "What's up the clouds and the humidity? This is Arizona, right?"

The Valley of the Sun may get a different nickname now from those out-of-town guests.

ABC15's weather team forecast a high in the Valley of around 50 degrees Tuesday.

That means Arizona wins this game of being the coldest state, as both Louisiana and Florida are warmer than our state on New Year's Day.

With the lower temperatures, one would think that the beverage of choice would be hot coffee. But, at the stadium, beer, cocktails, and shots of liquor were still flowing.

"Even in the cold, we have a cold drink," laughed LSU fan Lakiesha Gibson.

"It's not about the warm," Ryan said. "It's about the tradition because every time we take a Fireball shot before the game, the Knights win."
