Arizona. Is there a better state for bikers?

100,000 of them seem to like it here, at least for a short time.

That's how many are expected to cruise through this week's annual Arizona Bike Week.

The event got underway Wednesday with a full slate of concerts, shows and other activities planned through the weekend. Motorcycle enthusiasts come from all over.

"We get a lot of European tourists this time of year that like to come in and rent the motorcycles and explore the southwest. It's such a beautiful state," Harley Davidson of Scottsdale General Manager Doug Roessing said.

Roessing said Arizona Bike Week is one of the three biggest rallies of its kind in the country, filling up hotels throughout Scottsdale and other parts of the Valley. The event is not only an economic boon for the area, it's a lifeline for sick kids.

"One of the big things we support is Phoenix Children's Hospital," Roessing said. "Saturday morning we have the Hand in Hand Ride which is our third annual and all of the profits go to Phoenix Children's Hospital," Roessing.said.
