Former Arizona Wildcats and Arizona Cardinals linebacker Scooby Wright III has signed with the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football, a new professional league that will begin play next year.

The 24-year-old Wright was a consensus All-American for the Wildcats in 2014. He was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft and spent portions of the last two seasons with the Cardinals.

Wright joins a pair of other former Wildcats, offensive linemen Jacob Alsadek and Lene Maiava, on the Hotshots' roster. He will play alongside former Arizona State Sun Devil standouts: linebackers Carl Bradford and D.J. Calhoun, defensive linemen Will Sutton and Marcus Hardison, wide receivers Rashad Ross and Devin Lucien, defensive back Robert Nelson and running back Demario Richard.

Former ASU quarterback Mike Bercovici was originally part of the Hotshots roster but is now a member of the San Diego Fleet following the AAF's Protect or Pick quarterback draft late last month.

Led by Valley native and former UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel, the Hotshots are one of eight teams that will compete in the AAF, which will begin play the week after the Super Bowl in February. The Hotshots will play their home games at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe.

The Hotshots unveiled their inaugural uniforms and helmet in late November. The Hotshots' 2019 season schedule can be found here.
