PHOENIX — Schools across Arizona are well into their second semester of this unprecedented school year, and for the first time, we're getting a glimpse at the impact this pandemic has had on student learning.

FULL COVERAGE: State of Education in Arizona

ABC15 teamed up with our sister station KGUN9 in Tucson to dive deeper into the rising number of students across our state with at least one "F" grade at the end of first semester, the many factors contributing to the trend, and how education leaders are working to provide students and families with additional support.

Steve Holmes, the superintendent of Sunnyside Unified School District in Southern Arizona, and Melissa Castillo, Associate Superintendent of High Academic Standards for Students with the Arizona Department of Education, joined hosts from ABC15 and KGUN to discuss these important education topics.
