After two straight 3-3 draws to start the season, Phoenix Rising FC Head Coach Rick Schantz offered his advice to the fans.

The important thing for everyone to remember is it’s not how you start. It’s how you finish, Shantz said. We know our team is going to get better as the season goes on. We have a ton of talent. It’s just getting them on the same page.

That surplus of talent on the team will help during the long season. Shantz says this team plans to play 40 games this year, including the U.S. Open Cup and a run in the USL Cup playoffs.

“We feel we’re two deep at just about every spot,” Shantz said. “It breeds competition, so guys are going to push each other to perform on a weekly basis.”

Shantz is hoping the added competition will breed chemistry on the field.

“Once I find that right blend, and it takes a little bit of time, I think that this will be a difficult group to beat,” Schantz said.

Phoenix Rising FC’s next match is March 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Casino Arizona Field vs Colorado Springs Switchbacks. This game, and every game, will be broadcast on Your Phoenix CW (channel 6 or 61.1).
