PHOENIX — Police say an impaired driver may be to blame for a crash that seriously injured a motorcycle rider Sunday morning.

Police say around 10:07 a.m. Sunday morning, Sara Sloan, 21, was driving southbound on 41st Place and turned left to go east on Thunderbird Road when she collided with a motorcycle riding west on Thunderbird.

The 29-year-old motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries in the crash, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson.

Authorities say Sloan was evaluated for impairment and investigators developed probable cause to believe she was driving while impaired when the crash happened.

She was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and charged with one count of aggravated assault.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the victim of the crash. According to his family, he remains in the hospital with serious injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation, Thompson said. Stay with ABC15 News and abc15.com for updates.
