A child is hospitalized after being struck by a car in Ahwatukee Thursday afternoon.
Police were called to the area of 48th Street and Ray Road around 3:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a car accident involving a pedestrian.
According to witnesses at the scene, a child between 10 to 12 years old, was running across the street and struck by a white car.
The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.
The driver remained at the scene and impairment does not appear to be a factor, however, the investigation is ongoing at this time.
