Yee served in the Treasurer's Office from 2007-2010 under former treasurer Dean Martin. She was elected to the Arizona Legislature in 2010 and served as the Senate, majority leader.

In April, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey appointed Eileen Klein, the former president of the Board of Regents, to State Treasurer. She replaced Jeff DeWitt who resigned to become NASA's chief financial officer.
