Former Maricopa County Assessor Paul Petersen was sentenced to 74 months in prison in a case in Arkansas Tuesday afternoon.
Prosecutors in Arkansas sought a 10-year prison sentence for the former Arizona politician who acknowledged running an illegal adoption scheme in three states involving women from the Marshall Islands.
Petersen also faces sentencing in January for similar convictions in Arizona and Utah.
The judge in the Arkansas case recommended that any additional convictions in Arizona, Utah, or other states be served concurrently to the Arkansas sentencing.
Petersen also faces a $100,000 fine in the Arkansas sentencing.
