DPS: 12 people hospitalized after minivan rolls over, hits trooper's patrol car in Mohave County

Twelve people are injured after a crash involving a Department of Public Safety trooper in Mohave County.

According to a DPS spokesman, a trooper was parked alongside Interstate 40 Friday afternoon to monitor traffic. 

The driver of a minivan lost control of the car, hit a median and rolled over, a DPS spokesperson said. The van hit the DPS patrol car as it came to a rest. 

During the accident, two people were ejected from the van. A total of 12 people were taken to the hospital.

All of the passengers and driver were transported to a local hospital. Of the 12 people, three were flown to a Las Vegas trauma center, officials said.

One person suffered life-threatening injuries were the others are expected to be OK. 

The trooper was not injured during the incident, DPS said.

An investigation is ongoing and it’s unknown why the driver initially lost control of the van.
