On the heels of Gov. Doug Ducey announcing the reopening of Arizona schools in the fall and youth sports this summer, the Arizona Department of Health Services has reported two days in a row of record-setting numbers of new Covid-19 cases in the state.

On May 30, ADHS reported 790 new cases – the most in a single day since the first case was reported in late January.

A day earlier, on May 29, the previous record of new cases, 702, was recorded, the day after Ducey's announcement.

On Sunday, the number of new cases reported dipped to 681, but remained among the highest single-day numbers recorded in the state.
