For the third time this week, a more than 60-mile stretch of Interstate 10 has been closed for blowing dust.

The Arizona Department of Transportation announced the closure of 62 miles of the interstate between Lordsburg, NM and US 191 due to blowing dust causing low visibility conditions.

Eastbound traffic is being detoured onto US 191 north to Safford and then onto US 70 east into New Mexico, where drivers will rejoin I-10 in Lordsburg. Westbound traffic will take the same detour, only in reverse, heading along US 70 to Safford and then south on US 191.

The detour is approximately 110 miles, ADOT said.

The same stretch of interstate was closed on Monday and Thursday for the same reason.

There was no immediate word from ADOT on how long the detour would remain in place.
