Our extended break from the monsoon continues as temperatures get sizzling hot

Drier air has moved back into our state, keeping storm chances out of our forecast again this week.

This drier air also means our relative humidity will stay low through at least Tuesday. So, at least it's a dry heat.

Valley temperatures will warm to near 110 each afternoon this week.

Overnight lows will be mild to warm, only cooling into the low to mid 80s each morning.

Breezes kick back up in the Valley and across the state again this afternoon.

Valley wind gusts will peak near 20 to 25 mph. Up north, wind gusts could reach as high as 35 to 40 mph.

Those strong winds combined with the very dry conditions around our state will create a heightened wildfire danger in parts of our state. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect for the eastern half of the Mogollon Rim and parts of northeast Arizona through this evening.

A reminder that the UV index will be extreme, so make sure you slather on the sunscreen before heading outside. UV exposure will be highest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. giving most people less than 10 minutes before a burn or skin damage.

While we could see a boost in moisture across southern Arizona by mid-week, we likely won't see storm chances return to Southern or Northern Arizona until this weekend. For now, Valley storm chances look slim through the weekend but they could return by next week.
