FREE shredding, recycling and prescription drug take-back events this weekend

You can recycle, shred documents, and get rid of old medications for free this weekend.

KEEP SCOTTSDALE BEAUTIFUL "PURGE-A-PALOOZA":

Keep Scottsdale Beautiful is putting on what they're calling a Purge-A-Palooza on Saturday, November 16 from 8 a.m. to noon at Scottsdale Community College.

Viewer Gennifer Giusiana emailed us that you can recycle "arts, crafts, school supplies, cell phones, electronics, eyeglasses, hangers, hearing aids, ink cartridges, prescription drugs, medical devices like crutches, walkers, and canes, plastic bags, paper for on-site shredding, shoes, textiles and clothing."

The items NOT accepted are:

  • CRT televisions
  • CRT monitors
  • Rear Projection televisions
  • Batteries
  • Household hazardous waste

SUN CITY WEST SHRED-A-THON AND PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE-BACK EVENT:

There's a Shred-A-Thon and Prescription Drug Take-Back event happening this Saturday, November 16 from 8 a.m. to noon at Solstice Senior Living. This is free and open to the public. The Attorney General's Office, AARP, Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, and Solstice Senior Living are teaming up to host this event and to make this opportunity possible.

A release we received stated, "Shredding your personal or sensitive documents is an important step to ensure your identity is not stolen. Getting rid of old prescription drugs is key in keeping opioids out of the hands of our youth.
