Police are searching for a person of interest related to sexual misconduct involving a child and a possible attempted child abduction in Surprise.

In a news release Wednesday, the Surprise Police Department said the incident happened on Nov. 29 around 2 a.m.

The 11-year-old girl reportedly told police she was confronted by the male subject on a bicycle in front of the WinCo Foods store near Bell Road and Loop 303.

The man made several “rude” comments, which made the victim feel uncomfortable.

She then left the store and started walking home. That’s when an unknown subject started following her in the greenbelt area, police said.

The man then came up to her, exposed his genitals and tried to grab her, the victim told police.

After the incident, the girl ran home and told a family member, according to police. Officers responded to the area where the incident reportedly occurred but could not find the man.

The person of interest is described as a white male possibly in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing a multi-colored long-sleeved shirt, dark-colored ball cap, brown shorts and dark-colored shoes.
