A motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with life threatening injuries after the vehicle the individual was driving crashed into an SUV in Glendale.

According to the Glendale Police Department, the incident happened on 59th Avenue just north of Thunderbird Road shortly after 1 p.m.

Police said a 64-year-old motorcyclist was traveling northbound on 59th Avenue when a silver SUV was pulling out of a private drive and in front of the individual. Police said the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was unable to stop and collided into the SUV.

The driver of the SUV, a woman, was not injured during the incident, but the motorcyclist was sent to a hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police said speed and impairment do not appear to play a factor in the collision, however they are still investigating.
