A suspect is facing multiple charges after allegedly attacking a woman at her Buckeye home.

Officers responded to the woman's house near Maricopa and Miller roads around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday to fid the front door open and no one inside.

A neighbor told police the victim showed up at their home partially clothed shortly before, asking for help. Just after the woman arrived at the neighbor's home, the suspect, later identified as Jeffrey Short, was seen leaving the neighborhood.

Police said Short assaulted the victim and attempted to engage her in sexual intercourse before fleeing the scene.

He was later spotted near 35th and Southern avenues where police attempted a traffic stop.

Buckeye police said Short fled the stop on foot and was apprehended a short time later.

He has been charged with violent sex assault, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and sex abuse.
