TONOPAH, AZ — Multiple agencies are working to put out a fire at Hickman Family Farms in the far West Valley.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, the fire started around 4:15 p.m. in a large building.

There were no animals in the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported, MCSO said.

Clint Hickman, head of marketing for the farm, said the building was under construction and about to receive its first batch of hens.

"The barn it started in looks to be a total disaster," Hickman said. "I don't know how long it will take fire authorities to figure out how it got its start."

The fire is not expected to impact production or distribution at one of the largest egg providers in the west, Hickman said.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation. No further information was immediately available.
