A drone tried to deliver illegal contraband items to a prison in Arizona.

The Arizona Department of Corrections said on September 24, a homemade drone tried to deliver items to ASPC-Lewis in Buckeye.

Correctional Officers found the wreckage and took the items, which included cell phones and narcotics.

The drone crashed in a “no man’s land” security zone that is not accessible to inmates.

Investigators have been unable to trace the origin of the drone.

This was the first known encounter of a drone at an Arizona state prison.
