Tempe police: Shots fired during gas station robbery

Police are searching for a suspect who fired shots while robbing a gas station Tuesday night.

According to Sgt. Ron Elcock, a police spokesman, officers responded to the Chevron near Kyrene and Guadalupe roads for a report of an armed robbery.

While inside the store, police say the suspect fired two rounds, though no injuries were reported. The suspect ran away with an unknown amount of cash.

Police say the suspect is as a black man, about six feet tall and with an average build. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue hooded sweatshirt that covered his head and face.

Officers were out searching for the suspect as of 10:45 p.m.
