Police arrest man who allegedly cut girlfriend in Tempe; connected to attempted robbery

Tempe Police have arrested a man who allegedly cut his girlfriend on Wednesday afternoon and is also connected to a crime that happened Tuesday night. 

Police were called to Baseline Road and Priest Drive on Wednesday afternoon. According to a police spokesperson, it is believed that the woman was cut in the neck area by 20-year-old Richard Cross. He was later arrested in the area. 

Police told ABC15 Cross was connected to an attempted robbery that happened Tuesday night. 

According to the Tempe Police Department, around 7:45 p.m. a man went into the Residence Inn Tempe hotel near Baseline Road and Priest Drive. Police say Cross tried to rob the hotel but didn't get away with anything. There were no injuries reported during the incident. 

The woman's injuries aren't life-threatening, however, she was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Cross faces charges of aggravated assault and attempted robbery.
