TEMPE, AZ — Arizona State University police issued a crime alert on Monday after a woman reported being sexually assaulted and raped by a man she met through a social media platform.
According to ASU police, the victim reportedly agreed to meet the man at a residential hall on ASU's Tempe campus.
Police believe the suspect gained the victim's trust by lying about his age and identity online, and upon meeting the victim, he became physically aggressive and sexually assaulted her. Police were not able to disclose which residential hall the assault took place at.

Police are still searching for the man, who is described as a Hispanic male, and 40 to 45 years of age.
ASU police are reminding the campus community that criminals may use social media platforms to target potential victims.
