PD: Juvenile in custody after stabbing man selling phone in Tempe

TEMPE, AZ — A juvenile has been taken in custody after a stabbing in Tempe late Thursday morning.

Tempe police say they were dispatched to an area near Apache Boulevard and McClintock Drive around 11 a.m. for reports of a stabbing.

According to initial reports, someone was using a common app to sell items and meet up with a juvenile to sell a phone. During the transaction, police say the juvenile tried to rob the victim of the phone. Amid a struggle, the juvenile used a pocket knife to cut the victim several times.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, but was later located by officers.

Police say the victim suffered minor injuries during the incident.
