Man sought after attacking woman near ASU Gammage in Tempe

Tempe police are reaching out to the public for help in locating a man who assaulted a woman near ASU Gammage on Saturday. 

According to police, just after 2 a.m. officers responded to the area of 12th Street and Mill Avenue for a report of a woman who was assaulted. 

Police say the 22-year-old victim was walking by herself when an unknown man approached her from behind, pushed her to the ground and then assaulted her. 

The suspect fled into a nearby neighborhood after a passerby intervened and was not located by police.  

The attack is believed to have been sexually motivated, police said. 

Police say the victim does not know the suspect. 

He is described as a Hispanic man in his late twenties to early thirties, around 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build. 

Police say the suspect has no facial hair, tattoos or jewelry. He was last seen wearing a dark baseball hat, a blue or grey t-shirt, white tennis shoes, and long pants.
