Fire crews put out Tempe apartment blaze; low power lines cause for safety concern

Tempe fire officials fought an early morning fire that destroyed one unit of a multi-family housing complex.

According to information at the scene near University Drive and Dorsey Lane, damage to one unit was extensive, even with fire crews stationed just around the corner.

The power lines hang low over this particular complex, so crews had a hard time fighting the blaze safely. If a line caught fire and fell, there is a chance that someone could have been electrocuted.

Fortunately, three other units able to be saved from being complete losses and no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
