TEMPE, AZ — A man has been hospitalized after being struck by a car near Scottsdale Road just north of the Loop-202.
Tempe police say a Ford Mustang exited the Loop 202 on Scottsdale Road, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a median, where the pedestrian was standing. Once the vehicle came to a stop, it caught fire.
Officials say impairment is believed to be a factor in this collision.
The two passengers in the car suffered minor burn injuries. Meanwhile the pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
