DPS: Shots fired from car on Loop 101 near Broadway Road

Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers say shots were fired from a vehicle along the Loop 101 on Tuesday morning.

According to DPS, people in a white passenger car reported shots fired from a maroon passenger car while headed northbound on the Loop 101 near Broadway Road.

No injuries were reported, but DPS confirmed five shots in the door panel of the victim's car.

The shooting comes days after Leslie Merritt Jr's attorneys were in court trying to get the former freeway shootings suspect gun back.

The last time DPS Director Frank Milstead talked about the freeway shooting case was in April. "I believe we have enough evidence to develop probable cause to believe that [Leslie Merritt Jr.] is the correct suspect."
