A California-bound flight that took off from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport was forced to turn around after experiencing hot temperatures inside the cabin.

According to an American Airlines spokesperson, the flight left Phoenix around 5 p.m. Friday and returned to the gate an hour later.

Once the plane en route to San Jose, it was discovered that the cabin temperature would not regulate, officials said.

There were 157 passengers on board and five crew members.

The plane isn’t expected to take off again until 9:40 p.m.
