The Arizona State University Police Department is warning the public of a phone scam after a caller impersonated their agency.

Police say on Saturday a suspect called an ASU student impersonating ASU Police.

The caller ID showed 4809653456 (same phone number as ASU police) without spaces or hyphens, according to police.

The caller told the student that their academic records were being investigated as fraudulent.

The call was lost before the suspect could request any personal information or compensation, police said.

ASU police are reminding the public to not provide personal information over the phone.

If you receive a similar call, you are asked to call ASU police at 480-965-3456.
