SAN TAN MOUNTAIN REGIONAL PARK, AZ — Authorities have arrested a juvenile for shooting and killing a teen in a Maricopa County park earlier this week.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to San Tan Mountain Regional Park on Wednesday night near where Thompson Road turns into Brenner Pass Road.

Deputies say 18-year-old Tavion Jackson was shot and later pronounced deceased on scene.

Pinal County deputies had detained several people present during the shooting, and investigators later determined the shooting had happened in MCSO's jurisdiction.

A juvenile suspect was arrested and charged in Pinal County juvenile court with one count of manslaughter.

A spokesperson for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and said no further details were immediately available.
