Officials have arrested a man accused of murdering a woman in Mesa.
Mesa police said 51-year-old Allen Lindstrom was arrested on Tuesday night and charged with one count of second degree murder.
Lindstrom told police he found 50-year-old Sharon Vaulding not breathing at the Colonade Motel near Higley Road and Main Street on October 2.
When officers arrived on the scene, she was pronounced dead and the cause of death was undetermined.
The case was eventually ruled a homicide. Information from the Maricopa County Medical Examiner indicated that Vaulding was stabbed and beaten.
Mesa detectives linked physical and DNA evidence to Lindstrom, leading to his arrest.
